Snow, sleet & freezing rain to move in Wednesday
BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) -- After a brief quiet-down Tuesday, another wintry mix risk will arrive for midweek.
For our second day of the week, expect seasonably a seasonably chilly day with highs in the low-mid 40s under more clouds than sun.
The forecast gets more interesting as we work into Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Tuesday night, our next system will move in with a short-lived period of snow starting after midnight. Accumulations should be on either side of an inch at most, but the main threat will be a changeover to ice. An icy mix of sleet and freezing rain will take over for during the morning commute and possibly lasting even as late as through the midday. We'll then see an eventual changeover to a soaking rain for the afternoon. Therefore, expect a better Wednesday PM rush as highs crawl to near 40, but the morning trip into work and school looks be harrowing with a dangerous icy glaze,
Thursday, sunshine will return with blustery and colder highs dropping back into the 30s... Although black ice and refreeze could be a serious issue during the morning with lots of standing water and leftover wet surfaces with early temperatures taking a dunk well into the 20s.
Milder 40s to near 50 will return Friday and Saturday, but also so will a few more clouds as the next system arrives from the west. We might also include a risk of an afternoon rain or two on Saturday.
Our next storm system passes over on Sunday with a push of milder air in the 50s and, this time around, most likely all rain. Behind it, as sun returns next Monday, it'll be back to highs... just a touch cooler, but still pleasant for February... near 50!
