'Stop the killing': Ceasefire weekend kicks off in Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - The city of Baltimore is facing a challenge: to go 72 hours without violence.
Organizers are hoping event will encourage residents to come together and stop the shooting and the killing.
Yesterday some residents also took part in a rally at this west Baltimore intersection.
Two hundred and eight people have been killed in the city this year, and more than 500 people have been shot.
One man who stopped yesterday said he was on his way home from the hospital after being shot just days ago.
That man's story brought one Ceasefire organizer to tears.
She said being able to reach him justified the need for the campaign.
Events like that are happening all across Baltimore through Sunday.
