Up to 1/2 inch of snow makes for slick roads late Wednesday
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Snow snuck up on many in the Baltimore region as a sudden burst of flakes covered grass and roads throughout the area, making for some slick traveling.
Up to half an inch of snow was being reported in parts of the area by about 10 p.m.
Drivers were being warned to use "extreme caution" if venturing out Wednesday night. Lingering snow showers and sub-freezing temperatures were also set to make an impact on Thursday morning commuters.
The National Weather Service warned at 9:45 p.m. that northern Baltimore suburbs had "low visibility and very slick roads."
Baltimore City's Department of Transportation said city "gateways" had been pretreated with brine ahead of the event.
Baltimore County said crews were treating roads as needed Wednesday evening.
