Vigil to honor life of fallen Officer Jacai Colson set for Sunday

BELTSVILLE, Md. (WBFF) - The community is invited Sunday to attend a vigil honoring the life of fallen Prince George's County First Class Officer Jacai Colson.

The police department announced that the public is invited to join the "police family" for a candlelight vigil and moment of silence for 28-year-old Officer Colson who was inadvertently shot last Sunday outside a district station by a fellow officer.

Police say, "We will stand side by side to honor both Jacai's life and service and the bravery and dedication of our five other police officers so deeply affected that tragic day."

The vigil will be held in the District III parking lot on Barlowe Road at 4:15 p.m. At 4:30, which police call "the moment the attack on our home began" a moment of silence will be held. Private funeral arrangements for Officer Colson have also been set for next week.
