What exactly is a "bump stock?"
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Besides finding guns and ammunition inside Stephen Paddock's hotel room, agents found a device that can essentially convert a semi-automatic rifle into one that's fully automatic.
The conversion involves removing the stock of a gun and replacing it with what's called a bump stock.
FOX45's Joy Lepola looked into how the device works.
She spoke with Frank Loane, who owns a gun shop in Pasadena.
A bump stock isn't just available in stores. Like most things, it can be bought online and ranges in price from $200 to $300 - and it's legal.
Pictures obtained exclusively by a FOX affiliate in Boston allegedly show some of the rifles used during the shooting.
At least one of the photos does show a rifle with a bump stock attached to it.
