Woman killed in crash by gang member fleeing police in south Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A 66-year-old woman was killed after a "validated Blood gang member" who "should have been in jail" crashed into her car in south Baltimore Thursday night, said Baltimore police.
Ryan Hazel, 25, whose last known address was Flowerton Road, is accused of crashing into the victim's car on South Mount Street at Pratt Street at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, said police commissioner Kevin Davis.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene in the "horrible collision," he said.
Hazel was allegedly fleeing police after a traffic stop.
Police recovered a "handgun and substantial amount of drugs" from his car, he said. The drum magazine holds fifty 9-millimeter rounds.
Hazel had been sentenced to three years in jail, but two years and six months of the sentence was suspended, said Davis.
After getting out of jail, he was arrested three more times, once for another gun offense, said Davis.
"It's because Hazel is on the street and not in jail that [the victim] is not with us today," he said about the woman killed Thursday.
