Papal visit requires one of the largest security operations in U.S. history
BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- With the arrival of Pope Francis, hundreds of thousands of onlookers are expected to gather in Washington, New York and Philadelphia over the next five days. For local and federal authorities, they've mobilized one of the largest security operations in U.S. history.
Homeland Security expert Vernon Herron has been involved in events like this in the past. He tells Fox45 that with threats of terrorists attempting to impersonate first responders, security into restricted areas is being closely watched.
Fox45 has learned Maryland State Police will also be involved in offering protection for the Pope.
