Police: Officer hospitalized after being attacked during traffic stop in Woodbridge, Va.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. (ABC7) —
A police officer was hospitalized after a suspect attacked them during a traffic stop Friday night in Woodbridge, according to authorities.
Prince William County Police say that the officer had stopped a vehicle just before 8 p.m. in the area of West Longview Drive and Princess Avenue Lane. One of the people in the car got out and assaulted the officer, officials say.
Police say more officers were called to the scene and the suspect was arrested. The officer was flown to the hospital out of caution with non-life threatening injuries.
Two other people were in the vehicle the officer stopped and ran off, police say. Authorities searched for them but say they were not involved in the assault.
