TODAY'S TOP STORIES

City firefighters are battling two separate fires as heavy flames spread across rowhomes in West Baltimore.

Firefighters were called to the 1300 block of North Calhoun Street shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The four-alarm blaze spread to both sides of the street due to windy conditions. Eight rowhomes were engulfed in fire, three on one side of the street and five on the other. At least one is known to be occupied.

Heavy flames also jumped to buildings across the alley in the 1300 block of N. Carey Street. A third-alarm has been called for that fire.
