The jury has been sent home in Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon's trial after sending a note to the judge that said deliberations were getting "overheated."
Jurors were instructed to return Monday morning, marking day two of deliberations with no verdict.
Yesterday, jurors sent a similar note asking to conclude because deliberations were "getting a little out of order."
Judge Dennis Sweeney has encouraged them to work through any issues and attempt to reach a verdict in order to prevent a hung jury.
Earlier this morning, jurors asked the judge for the legal definition of "misappropriation." Sweeney said they should look in the jury instructions.
The jurors were also denied a request for a law dictionary.
The courtroom has been packed with Dixon's supporters, who erupted into applause after Defense Attorney Arnold Weiner made his final statements Thursday.
Jurors showed little reaction to the outburst.
Prosecutors say Dixon used gift cards for the needy on personal shopping sprees.
The defense says the mayor confused the gift cards with ones she had received for her own use from a former boyfriend, developer Ronald Lipscomb.
