NBA-KNICKS/IVERSON

GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) -- The New York Knicks have decided not to pursue Allen Iverson.

Team president Donnie Walsh says the club won't make any additions at this time despite its 2-9 record. He added the decision to pass on the former MVP had nothing to do with Iverson's ability to play.

Iverson was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday and became a free agent Thursday night.

The Knicks remain committed to building with young players such as Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler, and feel a player who shoots as much as Iverson could hinder that development.

NBA-BUCKS/BOGUT OUT

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Andrew Bogut will be out of the Milwaukee Bucks lineup for two to four weeks.

General manager John Hammond says the 24-year-old center suffered a leg strain and contusion in Wednesday's 99-85 win against New Jersey. Bogut scored 21 points and 11 rebounds before leaving the game in late in the fourth quarter.

Bogut is averaging 16.1 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

NFL-NEWS

UNDATED (AP) -- Kyle Orton missed a third consecutive practice Friday with a sprained left ankle and Denver coach Josh McDaniels says the Broncos quarterback's availability for Sunday's pivotal contest with San Diego will be a gametime decision. Backup Chris Simms is in line to make his first start since September 2006, when he suffered a life-threatening spleen injury while with Tampa Bay.

Elsewhere:

-- Steelers safety Troy Polamalu did not practice all week because of a left knee injury and will not play Sunday in Kansas City. He may miss the Nov. 29 game at Baltimore as well. Polamalu sat out the Steelers' second through fifth games with a ligament tear, only to injure the same knee during an 18-12 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday.

-- Browns coach Eric Mangini expects Josh Cribbs to play Sunday, when Cleveland meets the Detroit Lions in a matchup of 1-8 teams. The wide receiver and special teams standout was strapped to a backboard and carted off the field after the last play of the Browns' 16-0 loss to Baltimore on Monday night. He was briefly hospitalized with a possible neck injury and concussion.

-- Ravens defensive end Dwan Edwards plans to appeal the $5,000 fine he received for a hit delivered to Browns wide receiver Joshua Cribbs on Monday night. Edwards struck Cribbs with a forearm to the facemask on the final play and was flagged for unnecessary roughness.

-- Buffalo starting defensive tackle Marcus Stroud has been ruled out of this weekend's game at Jacksonville because of a knee injury. With Kyle Williams listed as questionable by interim head coach Perry Fewell because of a sprained knee, the Bills' porous run defense could be missing both starting tackles in preparing to face one of the NFL's most potent rushing teams.

-- The NFL has fined Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett $7,500 for his elbow to the throat of Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. The league said the fine was for "roughing the passer."

-- Saints running back Reggie Bush has been held out of practice for the third straight day, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Tampa Bay. Bush came out of the St. Louis game with swelling and soreness in his left knee, which was surgically repaired twice in a three-month span a year ago. Saints coach Sean Payton says Bush's knee is bruised and swollen.

NASCAR-JOHNSON

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) -- On the verge of what would be a record-breaking fourth straight title in NASCAR's top circuit, Jimmie Johnson has signed a contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports through 2015.

He goes into Sunday's season finale at Homestead with a 108-point lead over teammate Mark Martin and needs only to finish 25th or better to capture another crown.

It's the third extension of Johnson's career with Hendrick. He was previously signed through the 2010 season.

There's no word as to crew chief Chad Knaus , who has previously extended his contracts to stay in line with Johnson. The two have been partnered since Johnson's 2002 rookie season.

LPGA-CHAMPIONSHIP

RICHMOND, Texas (AP) -- Second-round play resumed at the LPGA Tour Championship following a six-hour rain delay.

Lorena Ochoa was the leader by a shot after firing a 6-under-par 66 in yesterday's opening round. Reilley Rankin was alone in second place after 18 holes.

Sophie Gustafson has made the biggest charge of the day. She is now at minus-five after six holes. She stands 3-under for the day.

GOLF-DUBAI

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- Lee Westwood has shot a 3-under 69 to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the Dubai World Championship.

The English golfer put himself in a solid position to pick up two big prizes on Sunday. If he wins the last tournament of the European Tour season, he will receive $1.25 million in prize money as well as a $1.5 million bonus for winning the Race to Dubai money prize.

TENNIS-AGASSI

LONDON (AP) -- ATP chairman Adam Helfant says the tour will not reopen a doping case against Andre Agassi even though he admitted to lying about using crystal meth in 1997. Agassi revealed in his recent autobiography that he failed a 1997 drug test, a result he says was thrown out after he lied by claiming he "unwittingly" took crystal meth.

Helfant says the ATP cannot reopen the case since Agassi has retired and no longer plays on the tour.

SOCCER-REPLAY

PARIS (AP) -- The French Football Federation has rejected an appeal from its Irish counterpart to ask FIFA to allow a replay of the contentious World Cup qualifier between the two countries.

The FFF says it "understands the disappointment and the bitterness of the Irish players" but that FIFA's decision not to allow a replay is final.

FIFA rejected Ireland's request for a replay so the Irish FA appealed directly to the FFF to ask the governing body to change its mind.

Thierry Henry , whose hand ball set up the deciding goal that sent France to the World Cup on Wednesday, says a replay would be the fairest solution. But the FFF's unwavering stance seems to end any chance of a new match.
