KATY PERRY IS THINKING COTTON CANDY
NEW YORK (AP) -- Katy Perry seems to have captured the title for song of the summer with "California Gurls," but she's glad it's got more dimension. It went number one in Australia, where it's winter, so she says thank you to the Australians for making it not just about summer. Perry is working on a tour, and she wants to encompass all the senses. She says she wants to make the air smell like cotton candy and she wants to blast sprinkles into the crowd.KATY PERRY TAKES NUMBER ONE SPOT; FANTASIA IS NUMBER TWO
NEW YORK (AP) -- Katy Perry has edged out Fantasia for the number-one album spot. Perry's "Teenage Dream" album sold 192,222 copies its first week out. Fantasia's "Back To Me" album sold 117,000 units, putting it at number two. Eminem's "Recovery," which had been number one for seven nonconsecutive weeks, drops to third.
FLYLEAF WANT PHOTOS OF HAND-HOLDING
NEW YORK (AP) -- Flyleaf want to see you holding hands with a lot of people. Flyleaf are asking fans to submit photos of groups of people holding hands as a human chain. The person who submits the longest chain at every Flyleaf tour stop will receive tickets to the show and a meeting with the band. The person who submits the longest chain overall will get a guitar autographed by the band. Why are they doing this? To show solidarity in the fight against the human trafficking of children. Flyleaf has teamed up with World Vision in its campaign to fight the exploitation of children and encourages fans to donate to World Vision.
NEIL YOUNG PREPARES "LE NOISE"
BURBANK, Calif. (AP) -- Neil Young is bringing "Le Noise." That's the name of his next album, due out on September 28. It's a collaboration with producer Daniel Lanois , whom Young has known for years but with whom Young has never recorded. Lanois says there are no overdubs and there's no band. He describes the sound as "a man on a stool and me doing a nice job on the recording."
BON JOVI WILL PLAY FREE SHOW ON ALABAMA COAST
GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) -- Bon Jovi are the latest act to play free shows in the Gulf region to bring attention and tourists back after the BP oil spill. Bon Jovi will perform in Gulf Shores, Alabama, on October 15, on the beach. They're free but tickets are required. Details are at www.ConcertsForTheCoast.com.
