Prep Player of the Week - Spring Season Lookback

Updated: Friday, June 27 2014, 07:27 PM EDT

Our Prep Player of the Week Award, sponsored by the US Army, has honored the area's finest high school athletes since way back in 1991. This week we close out the 24th year with a look back at the spring season.

At Boys Latin, the Lakers went unbeaten and won the mythical national championship. Shack Stanwick was a major reason why. The last of a long line of great players from his family, Stanwick had 118 points this season, and finished at a school, record 334 for his career. He'll play collegiately at Johns Hopkins.

A former prep player now playing at Maryland, Taylor Cummings of McDonogh led the Terps to the national title, scoring a team high of 63 goals and becoming the first sophomore to ever win the Tewaaraton Award the Heisman Trophy of lacrosse.

Distance star Ellie Gonzalez of Catholic High capped off a fine career, winning her third straight IAAM title in both the 16 and 32 hundred meters and finishing second at the Penn Relays. She'll run collegiately for Dartmouth.

Dionna White led Milford Mill to the best record in school history, 26-4 and their first state title since 2008, averaging 21 points and 6 and a half assists last season. White will play collegiately at Georgetown.

All winners receive the coveted Prep Player of the Week Award.
