Baltimore City Police Show Off Their Purple Pride

Updated: Friday, January 18 2013, 09:48 AM EST
People throughout Maryland and Baltimore have been showing their Purple Pride, and now Baltimore's finest are having their say.

The Baltimore Police Department released a video showing their spirit and support for the Ravens just before their game against the Patriots. Everyone came on board for the video - from the police academy to the homicide unit.

The Baltimore Police Department says they made the video to show their pride, but also emphasize safety when celebrating this weekend.

One member of the Baltimore City Police Department said, "Ray, Ray, Terrell, Ed, Joe kick some Patriot butt. Go Ravens. Thank you, thank you, from me to the Baltimore Police Department. There is no me without you."

Even Police Commissioner Anthony Batts, who is from California, admits that the Ravens are his adopted team.

Sergeant Eric Kowalczyk said, "As important as it is to fight against crime, it's equally important to engage with the community, show a human side of the department and officers and support our home team which is what we want to do."

Police say they will be stepping up patrols in Federal Hill, Fells Point and Canton during the game on Sunday. Baltimore City Police Show Off Their Purple Pride
