Businesses Cashing in on Ravens Super Bowl Win

Updated: Thursday, February 7 2013, 05:35 PM EST
Following their Super Bowl victory, everything Ravens is in demand and many businesses are profiting from it.

University of Maryland Economics Professor Dennis Coates has spent months researching the exact impact a Super Bowl win has on Super Bowl cities. Coates discovered that there was no measurable economic impact on the city that lost the Super Bowl or the city that hosted the big game.

But Coates did say that the city that wins the Super Bowl spends about $140 per household of extra income. Coates credits the extra spending to a boost in morale, which often makes workers more productive.

"This success carries over into a great deal of joy and people who have that outlook spend more money and take more risks and they produce more goods and services," said Coates.

Coates says the $140 benefit usually lasts about a year. Businesses Cashing in on Ravens Super Bowl Win
