Trip to New Orleans Could be Costly For Ravens Fans

Updated: Monday, January 21 2013, 07:49 PM EST
Baltimore Ravens fans are still savoring their team's decisive victory over the New England Patriots Sunday to become champions of the AFC.

Now, many fans are trying to find ways of traveling to New Orleans to see their team play the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on February 3.

But the trip will not be inexpensive.

The owners of Royal Travel Planners in Baltimore have been fielding calls from fans interested in attending the big game.

Mary Joan Levin says many hotels in New Orleans' French Quarter are already sold out and she says other hotels that still have vacancies are asking guests to stay a minimum of four nights.

"We got one phone call the other day and we checked on it and the hotel wanted two thousand dollars, that's crazy," said Levin.

Levin also says many non-stop flights to New Orleans are already fully booked.

She says if you can find a connecting flight through Atlanta or St. Louis, it could still cost between $500 and $700.

Some ticket brokers are asking between $1700 and nearly $12,000 for one Super Bowl ticket.

Thomas Woolridge, who is a Ravens fan, jokes "Forget about mortgage payments, rent and car payments to see the game!"

But Woolridge says to attend the Super Bowl in person could be the trip of a lifetime.

"Would you pay five grand to go down there? Yes, I'm hoping like heck that they win, but even if they lose the money's not really a factor, it's going there, it's the experience."Trip to New Orleans Could be Costly For Ravens Fans
