Dennis Pitta Makes Impact in Return

Updated: Monday, December 9 2013, 10:48 PM EST

Overshadowed by the Ravens 29-26 victory over the Vikings, in which five touchdowns were scored in the final 2:05 of the game, Dennis Pitta made his 2013 debut.

The Ravens tight end fractured his hip during training camp and was placed on the injured reserve designated to return list. Pitta was activated just in time to play in one of the most memorable regular season games in Ravens history.

On a 4th and goal from the Vikings goal line, Joe Flacco hit his favorite target for what, at the time, looked like the game-winning score. Pitta finished the game with six catches for 48 yards and one touchdown.

Due to the circumstances, Pitta saw more snaps than anticipated, but said everything went off without a hitch, “I think when we have that many two-minute opportunities, those are situations where I am going to be in the ball game. We didn’t anticipate we would be getting so many of them, especially at the end. But I felt good throughout the game and didn’t think about my hip, which is encouraging going forward, and [I] was able to just go out and play.”

Last season, Pitta caught 61 passes for 669 yards and seven touchdowns.
