Injuries, Lack of Depth Test Ravens Defensive Line

Updated: Friday, August 22 2014, 02:27 PM EDT

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore's defensive line has been hit hard by injuries, hard enough to give the Ravens reason to be concerned.

The Ravens have already lost two defensive linemen to season-ending injuries, and nose tackle Terrence Cody remains sidelined after hip surgery.

That doesn't leave much depth behind starters Chris Canty and Pro Bowl pick Haloti Ngata. Brandon Williams is expected be the other starter in the Ravens 3-4 scheme.

The only other defensive lineman with any experience is DeAngelo Tyson, who had 10 tackles and two sacks last season. Second-round draft pick Timmy Jernigan should factor. But rookie Brent Urban tore an ACL and Kapron Lewis-Moore ruptured an Achilles. Both are out for the season.

Defense has been a staple of the Ravens, but they were outscored 134-115 in the fourth quarter.
