Scheduling Conflict between Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens

Updated: Monday, March 18 2013, 06:07 PM EDT

It has become an NFL tradition that the Super Bowl champion opens the NFL season on Thursday night at home. That day is September 5 this year. The Ravens would kick off the 2013 NFL season, but there's one problem, the Orioles play a home game against the White Sox at 7:05 and they have no interest in moving the first pitch.

An easy solution would be to play the Ravens game on Wednesday like they did in 2012 due to the Democratic National Convention. However, Wednesday, September 4 is Rosh Hashanah.

NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, said today at the owner's meetings that the league is considering the Ravens opening on the road on Thursday night but says that is not an ideal scenario. The O's play a night game at Cleveland on Wednesday night, while the White Sox are in New York.
