Weddle Earns AFC Defensive Player of the Week Honor
BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF)--- Baltimore Ravens safety Eric Weddle has been named the AFC Defensive Play of the Week. Weddle forced a fumble and returned an interception for a touchdown in the Ravens win Sunday 44-20 over the Detroit Lions.
Weddle is tied for the second-most interceptions in the league with five, trailing Tennessee Titans defensive back Kevin Byard by one.
Weddle is the first Ravens safety to win the honor since Ed Reed did in 2010.
A Ravens player has been named an AFC player of the week in three straight weeks. Outside linebacker Matthew Judon got it in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers and punter Sam Koch was after his Week 12 performance against the Houston Texans. In that game, Koch connected on a fake punt pass to receiver Chris Moore to give the Ravens a first down.
