BALTIMORE (WBFF) - In Baltimore this week, a city councilman launched an assault against another monument.

Crime & Justice reporter Joy Lepola explains how this monument stands in memory of not one man or woman but many.

The monument has the names of 144 people on it, each with their own individual story of sadness and sacrifice.

They represent memories of men and women seen as heroes in the eyes of loved ones - and even strangers.

The same night demonstrators pulled down a statue of Christopher Columbus, City Councilman Ryan Dorsey tweeted, in part: "How is the FOP Memorial not on the list of monuments to remove?"

We’ve been told by members of law enforcement that "this is not an FOP monument." We’re told the victims families raised money to erect this monument.
