After medical treatment, doctors determined that the children did not sustain gunshot wound injuries, officials said on Sunday.

Both victims sustained head trauma and lacerations, as a result of the vehicle collision that occurred when the driver was shot.

Police responded to the shooting which occurred in the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood on Saturday evening.

The incident happened at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Laurens Street a little after 6:30 p.m.

Two men were shot outside of the vehicle, police say.

Baltimore City Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said that investigators do not know if the people in the car or the people on the sidewalk were the intended targets. But he said that police need people who saw what happened need to come forward.

"We know there were many people in this area on all four quadrants of the intersection and on each street. We know people heard something. We know people saw something and we need people to come to the police," said Harrison. "The only way we stop this and solve this is through community cooperation."
