BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- A nearly quarter-of-a-billion-dollar project is expected to transform Baltimore's Broadway East community.

Retail stores, fitness centers, and affordable housing are among the few things being built in the new East Baltimore community.

The Broadway East Community is about to get a major makeover. In the coming days, $200 million dollars will be poured into the Bel Air section for a mixed-use development that once housed the McGarvey Industrial Park.

Once the project breaks ground, it won't only spruce up this section of East Baltimore, but expected to reignite the culture and history that hides under years of neglect.

It's unclear just yet when demolition will take place, but the property owners say they do have permits to do so. The owners are hoping to get going on this in the coming days.
