BALTIMORE (WBFF) - “This is a war zone out here,” said Munir Bahar about the East Baltimore community where he grew up.

For more than a decade, Bahar has operated the COR Community Center where he teaches control to Baltimore teenagers who live in an out of control city.

He’s troubled by the death of Tyi’Quione Jones, 14, who was gunned down this past weekend on a sidewalk on Baltimore’s Polk Street.

According to police, the teenager victim was also armed with a gun.

“How is it that these guns continue to be accessed by people who don’t live anywhere near gun stores?” asks Bahar. "The flow of guns in the poorest areas of the city is not by accident.”

Bahar is convinced a massive criminal enterprise is behind the import of illegal guns.

Police are still searching for the person who shot Jones to death. Bahar believes it’s the culture surrounding this latest generation of teenagers that’s leading to their need for guns.

“We have to wrap ourselves around these children and there are tens of thousands in Baltimore City, “ said Bahar.
