BALTIMORE (WBFF) - There were balloons, signs and sage where Baltimore Ceasefire rallied at the intersection of Edmondson Avenue and Allendale Street.

They called it a celebration of life, marking a major challenge for the city, for 72 hours, to hold the peace.

"Started fighting again and one of the guys unloaded a 9mm on him," said Lawrence Manning.

The intersection is just blocks away from where Manning’s son was gunned down in 2018.

"I chose to be the one to step out into the community and do something," he said.

That something is to help spread the message about another weekend, another Baltimore Ceasefire.

"I never thought I'd be the angel of life and the angel of death," said Ceasefire Baltimore Founder Erricka Bridgeford.

Bridgeford is also known for blessing every murder site in this city, but even while spreading a message of unity and love today, she faced some tough questions from one man who said it's not working.

Last Baltimore Ceasefire, 11 were shot, 3 were killed.

"It’s easy to count how many people get killed. You don’t know the blessings rate, you don’t know the lives saved rate," said Bridgeford.

She acknowledges a painful reality.

"Somebody might die this weekend."

Bridgeford deeply believes what she's doing is making a difference.

"My personal blood is in the streets of Baltimore, so I get to say and do whatever I want to stop anybody else from having to feel this," she said.
