BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- Candace is a single mother who worked for the same company for almost 20 years before losing her job.

A few months later she found herself and her seven year old son homeless. They stayed at two area shelters before she was able to get back on her feet again.

Wednesday, Candace will be awarded a car through Vehicles for Change. It will allow her more freedom to spend more time with her son rather than using several forms of public transportation just to get to work.

The 20 vehicles being awarded this week were donated by Heritage MileOne Autogroup. David Smith, Executive Chairman of FOX45’s parent company is also a Principal with MileOne Autogroup.

Since 1991, Vehicles for Change has awarded 4700 cars.

To qualify for a vehicle, you must meet the following basic criteria:

You must not have any other vehicle in your household

You must be drug-free

You must be able to cover fees for taxes, tags, and title (approximately an additional $500)
