13 people shot, three killed in shootings across Baltimore
BALTIMORE -- WBFF -- Thirteen people were shot across Baltimore within a 24-hour period. Three of those victims died of their injuries, police said.
Two of the homicides occurred in east Baltimore Saturday.
Police were called to Old Town Mall around 4 p.m.. There officers found a 28-year-old man shot to death.
“I was at the wall hanging up pictures when I heard the ringing of the gunshots,” described one woman, who owns a shop within Old Town Mall. “Living in east Baltimore all my life I’ve become kind of numb to it.”
Police have not yet said what they believe led up to the shooting. The victim has not yet been identified.
Approximately three hours later and a mile and a half away Baltimore Police were called to another shooting in east Baltimore.
Officers were dispatched to Aiken Street after reports of gunshots. There police found a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police have not yet released a motive or any information on a possible suspect.
The victims were two of more than a dozen people who were shot across Baltimore from Friday evening into Saturday evening.
In just 24 hours a total of 13 people were shot. Three of those cases are now homicide investigations.
The third homicide occurred in South Baltimore Saturday morning.
Police were called to the 2700 block of Rittenhouse Avenue after reports of a shooting.
There officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No word on a suspect or motive in the killing. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
The non-fatal shootings occurred across Baltimore.
According to police, a 31-year-old man was shot in the back on Catherine Street in southwest Baltimore Saturday afternoon.
Two people were shot in the 400 block of east 26th street in north Baltimore around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The male and female victims in the case told police they were shot during a robbery that occurred in a street.
A 29-year-old woman was reportedly shot in the jaw in the 400 block of Saratoga Street in the central district early Saturday morning.
Police in the southeast district responded to a quadruple shooting at approximately 12:44 a.m. Saturday. Witnesses told police an unidentified gunman approached the male and female victims and began shooting.
Two people were shot in separate cases Friday.
Police said a 19-year-old man was shot in the 3400 block of Mary Avenue in northeast Baltimore around 7:30 p.m..
Hours later a 44-year-old man was shot in the 2600 block of Patapsco Avenue in south Baltimore just before 11 p.m..
Police said a person of interest has been identified in the case.
All of the cases remain under investigation.
