In a statement, a spokesperson from Kimco Realty said the company will redevelop the site using information gathered from a survey.

"As we consider retail alternatives for the redevelopment of the Owings Mills Mall, we are in the process of conducting a community survey in order to understand the needs and desires of the local residents," Corporate Communications Director Jennifer Maisch wrote in a statement. "Kimco is committed to being an engaged and responsive member of the Owings Mills community, and we’ll use the input collected as we work through what we plan to be an interactive process with significant community input. As Kimco’s plans and tenancy for Owings Mills become more clear, we will provide an update."

The mall’s last retail store closed in April and demolition began over the summer.

The shopping center first opened in 1986.
