For the first time in nearly a year Baltimore City has a new Police Commissioner.
Tuesday morning, Michael Harrison was sworn in.
Monday night City Council unanimously approved the Mayor's nominee Michael Harrison.
Council members echoing Mayor Catherine Pugh saying Harrison is the right man for the job.
He was a part of the New Orleans Police Department for 23 years. He was Police Chief there since 2014.
Ahead of today's swearing in ceremony, he released this statement saying: "I expect a long and productive relationship with the City Council and am looking forward to working together to achieve our goals of reforming the Baltimore Police Department."
