Baltimore's entire Metro Subway system to close Friday-Sunday
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Baltimore's entire Metro Subway system will be closed Friday through Sunday for emergency repairs.
Maryland Transit Administration announced late Thursday that it will be closed "after a preliminary inspection conducted in preparation for planned summer track-work revealed that some sections of track needed replacement sooner than expected," according to a news release.
Updates on the subway system, recently renamed SubwayLink, will be provided as soon as possible by Sunday night.
"The safety of our riders is a fundamental responsibility that we take with the utmost seriousness," said MDOT MTA Administrator Kevin Quinn in the statement. "With this immediate action, we are working to ensure the well-being of everyone who rides our system, and we do not take any risks when it comes to safety."
