Baltimore's first homicide victim of 2018 is 16 years old
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Sixteen-year-old Andre Galloway was killed in the middle of the afternoon Jan. 1 - the first homicide of the new year in Baltimore City.
He was fatally shot at 3:40 p.m., on a sidewalk on Eagle Street, in the violent Mt. Clare area.
Darryl Whitaker, who said is called "Mayor Woody" by kids, sometimes drove Andre to school.
"He was a good kid, he was not a bad kid at all," recalled Whitaker. "I don't know why these problems are happening around here."
"I used to take him to school down in South Baltimore. I just don't understand, I really don't. But he was a good kid, good kid, and it's sad, the first of the year, a child has to pass away like that."
