BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- Baltimore Police announced an arrest in the shooting death of a 7-year-old girl.
Taylor Hayes was shot on July 5th, in Southwest Baltimore, she died two weeks later.
Taylor's aunt Ebony Ward, speaking at the press conference, thanked the community and police and said "it won't bring Taylor back but at least we're about to get some kind of justice."
Police arrested the driver of the car Hayes was riding in as well as her boyfriend on weapons and drug charges.
Detectives were searching for the driver of a white Mercedes Benz, who police believed fired the shot that struck Hayes in her back as she sat in the back seat of a car.
Friday, police said they arrested 29-year-old Keon Gray for firing the fatal shots.
A City Prosecutor said, "Today's arrest was the result of very diligent and effective teamwork between the Baltimore Police Department and the City State's Attorney's Office."
Daneka McDonald was also arrested, police say she is believed to have been an accessory after the fact. Police say they believe that McDonald is Gray's girlfriend.
Police declined to give any more information about her potential involvement.
Online court records show that she was charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder, obstruction of justice, obstructing & hindering, intimidating & influencing a juror, and altering physical evidence.
Gray was arrested in Anne Arundel County Friday morning.
