Carjacking reported at Columbia mall Friday afternoon
COLUMBIA, Md. (WBFF) - A Columbia man is accused of carjacking and assaulting a woman at The Mall in Columbia on Friday afternoon, one of several violent incidents in Columbia over the weekend.
A woman said she was in her parked car at about 3:35 p.m. on Jan. 4 when a man got in the car, assaulted her and stole the vehicle, according to Howard County police.
Another man said the suspect rang his doorbell and assaulted him when the door was opened.
The suspect - 28-year-old Jermaine Ryan Holley of Procopio Circle in Columbia - was arrested shortly after and the stolen vehicle was recovered nearby.
Holley was charged with carjacking, robbery, assault, theft and rogue and vagabond.
An attempted robbery was also reported over the weekend at the Columbia lakefront.
A man said a group of juveniles assaulted him and demanded his cell phone, at about 6 p.m. Jan. 5.
The victim fled and nothing was stolen.
In the Long Reach area of Columbia, a teen was robbed at knifepoint by four male suspects at 11:15 p.m. Jan. 4 on a pathway near Flowerstock Row, said Howard County police.
The suspects had their faces partly covered and assaulted the victim, threatened him with a knife and stole his phone. No one was injured.
They're described only as four males in their late teens or early twenties wearing mostly black clothing.
