Columbia swimmer gets the gold in Special Olympics
COLUMBIA, Md. (WBFF) - A Howard County woman, who says she was inspired by Olympian Michael Phelps, has earned her own gold medal in swimming.
Jena Jones, 35, was one of 4,000 athletes who competed at the Special Olympics USA games last week.
Jones won a gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke and three silver medals in three other swimming events.
She’s now hoping to compete at the world competition later this year.
