BALTIMORE (WBFF) - An ardent supporter of President Trump, Maryland Congressman Andy Harris, is facing calls for his resignation over an alleged scuffle. But Harris calls the allegations untrue.
At issue, an alleged near fist fight on the house floor.
Harris and Texas democratic Congressman Colin Allred admit there was yelling among colleagues after Harris made objections during debate over the electoral vote counting process Wednesday night. But both deny there was anything close to a physical confrontation.
Harris said Allred even tried diffusing the situation.
Allred’s office released a statement that reads in part: “Congressman Allred approached his colleagues And at no point did he near physical violence. Reports to the contrary are categorically false.“
But this incident has some Maryland democrats, including Delegate Stephanie Smith of Baltimore City, calling on Harris to step down.
“We cannot have a newly reelected member of Congress conducting themselves that way and think that this is appropriate,“ said Smith.
Harris is also under fire after suggesting members of ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter were part of the chaos seen at the US Capitol during the riots Wednesday.
When asked what evidence or proof he has of those groups’ involvement Harris said, “There are a couple of reasons, first off, I’ve been in contact with some people who were in the rally. They said it was clear to them there were outside agitators who had infiltrated the rally,“ said Harris.

“I do not believe that the congressman is well acquainted with reality,” said Smith about Harris’ claims. “He has already been publicly on the record supporting multiple disproven claims of voter fraud,” she added.
One thing Harris did make clear, “I will not resign, he said.
