BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- Baltimore City Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of 5-month-old Brailynn Ford.

Police say, officers responded to an area hospital Thursday afternoon for a report of an injured baby.

According to responding officers and medical staff , Brailynn had signs of trauma to her body.

On Sunday, Brailynn Ford passed away due to her injuries, becoming Baltimore's youngest homicide victim of 2018

The infant's body was transported to the Medical Examiner's office where the cause of death was ruled a homicide.

She was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center last Thursday, for ‘trauma’. She died Sunday. She lived in the same home as her maternal grandmother, Hazel Wilson.

Wilson described the baby as happy and healthy. She said, "she was the best baby, the best baby she never cried. Just the way that she laughed just everything about her I’m going to miss her so much this is so hard, so hard."

Now Wilson is planning a funeral for her granddaughter and hoping police will make an arrest in the case. She told FOX 45, “We just need to get justice for Brailynn and whoever is responsible needs to be punished. They need to be punished because you have to be a sick individual to do this to a helpless infant."
