GoFundMe made for Balt. firefighter with broken back

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Colleagues of an off-duty Baltimore City Fire Fighter who was seriously injured after falling while hanging Christmas lights have created a GoFundMe page to help pay his medical bills.

Shane Horn suffered a broken back on Nov. 25 outside his home in Essex.

He was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he underwent spinal surgery.

Horn was recently transferred to MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital, where he is undergoing intense physical therapy.

In an interview Wednensday, Horn called the incident a freak accident.

"I hang my Christmas lights every year, I'm on a ladder at work a lot, but I was coming down the ladder [at home] and the legs of the ladder kicked out, and I fell about 12 feet on my back," said Horn.
