If you're happy and you know it... you might be in Howard County
COLUMBIA, Md. (WBFF) - Howard Countians are feeling pretty good, according to a new study.
Howard has been ranked one of the ten happiest counties in the country, reports SmartAsset.com.
The ranking looks at eight factors, including unemployment rate, poverty rate, affordability ratio, marriage rate, divorce rate, bankruptcy rate, life expectancy, and physical activity rate, according to a news release.
"Howard County scores well in most of our economic metrics. Out of the 980 counties we analyzed, this county ranks in the top 10 for it low poverty rate and high income-to-cost-of-living ratio," said SmartAsset spokesperson Julia Wakefield via email. "One concerning metric weighing Howard County down in the rankings is its high bankruptcy rate. It has the lowest rate in our top 10, placing 406th in that metric."
Two counties in the Washington, D.C. area - Loudoun and Fairfax counties - were also on the list, in third and fourth place.
The happiest county in the United States is Carver, Minnesota.
