JUST IN: Former Senator Sentenced to Federal Prison

BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- Former Baltimore City Senator Nathaniel Oaks was sentenced to 42 months in federal prison on corruption charges.

Federal prosecutors had requested a five-year sentence followed by probation for the former Senator who pleaded guilty to fraud charges in a federal bribery case.

Oaks' public defenders submitted a filing earlier this week asking for leniency and an 18-month prison sentence.

Before sentencing him to three and half years for corruption, Judge Richard Bennett calls “dumbfounding” Oaks’ tipping off subject of FBI probe.
