Lawsuit Filed by Victims of Corrupt Cops
BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Two Baltimore men who spent years in federal prison for a crime they never committed are now taking the city to court.
Umar Burley and Brent Matthews slapped a $40 million lawsuit against the city, the state and some of the former officers of the city's Gun Trace Task Force.
The lawsuit alleges the officers planted 31 grams of heroin in their vehicle, which led to them spending years in federal prison.
The lawsuit alleges the city maliciously prosecuted and deprived the men of their constitutional rights.
“These eight years in jail have taken everything from me,” said Burley.
“We know that somebody was playing with our lives,” said Matthews.
