A man from Accokeek, Maryland, has been found guilty in the killing a security guard at Morgan State University nearly one year ago, according to the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office.

21-year-old Chase Marco Wilson was convicted of second degree murder and handgun. Wilson faces the possibility of 60 years in prison when he's sentenced in October, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office.

Wilson was a student and Morgan State University.

“This homicide was deeply traumatizing to the Morgan State University campus, an institution that should be a safe haven for our young people to learn, grow, and thrive in,” said State’s Attorney Ivan Bates in a statement. “I hope this conviction sends a strong message to anyone seeking to perpetrate violence, especially on our college campuses, that you will face life-altering consequences for your actions. I applaud the outstanding work done by my Homicide Division in a challenging case and hope this conviction brings some measure of closure to the family of Mr. Fruh.”

On August 31, 2022, police said Wilson shot 19-year-old Julian Fruh in the head in the 4400 block of Marble Hall Road. Fruh was a security guard for the university, a contracted employee with Allied Universal.

Charging documents reveal that two sandwich bags full of marijuana were found in Fruh's bookbag, as well as packaging material and a digital scale.
