NOT RANDOM| Police say 7-year-old shooting victim was in car that was targeted

BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- While a 7-year-old girl is in surgery, Baltimore City Police are asking for the public's help finding the suspect(s) who opened fire on the car she was in.

Police released new details to the media Friday saying the bullet went through the trunk, hitting Taylor Hayes while she sat in the back seat.

Interim Police Commissioner Gary Tuggle said there were two children in the back seat of a Honda Accord when gunshots were fired.

The driver of that car, 33-year-old Darnell Holmes was arrested after drugs and a gun were found in the vehicle after the shooting.

Police say they believe the car, that had dark tinted windows was targeted.

Based on evidence detectives are searching for more than one suspect that they believe opened fire on the car.

Taylor is not related to the driver of that vehicle, family members told FOX45 she had gone to an amusement park with Holmes and her child.

She underwent a second surgery Friday afternoon at Shock Trauma where she is listed as critical and unstable.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward with tips, the family is asking for prayers.
