Police: Man dead following officer-involved shooting in Southeast D.C.
An officer-involved shooting was reported in Southeast Washington Tuesday night.
The shooting happened near the intersection of 1st St. and Wayne Place, SE, at around 7:15 p.m. according to Police Chief Peter Newsham.
When officers entered the back alley, there was a group of adult males there.
One of the adult males produced a weapon.
There were multiple shots fired during the shooting and the suspect, who police say was armed with a handgun, has been pronounced dead.
According to Newsham, the officers were on regular patrol, one of the males produced a handgun during the incident and none of the officers were injured in the shooting.
An investigation is underway at this time.
