POLICE: 72-Yr-old woman dies after assault; husband arrested
FREDERICK, MD (WBFF)-- Police in Frederick say they've arrested a 64-year-old man in connection with the death of his wife. May 16th the Frederick Police Department responded to a call from Frederick Memorial Hospital for a report of a domestic assault victim who was receiving care for serious injuries. The victim, 72-year-old Diana Shaff Peckaitis, told police she'd been assaulted by her husband, George Worthington Ramer.
An arrest warrant was issued, charging Ramer with 1st and 2nd degree assault. Around 2am the next day, officers located Ramer at his residence, and arrested him.
Later in the morning on May 17, police determined that the victim had been transferred to another hospital due to the seriousness of the injuries, her condition had worsened, and she had died.
Ramer is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on a no bond status. This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending once additional evidence is evaluated and the State's Attorney's Office is consulted.
