Police make arrest in death of 5-month-old girl

BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- Baltimore Police have arrested the father of a five-month-old girl who died in early October from trauma.

Five-month-old Brailynn Ford showed signs of trauma and the Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Now the baby’s father, 21-year-old Anthony Ford, is charged with murder.

But the baby’s mother, Courtney Andrews, is quick to defend him, saying:"I don't think Anthony would ever, ever - I know he wouldn't hurt his child, due the fact that he loved his child."

Police responded to an area hospital at around 3 p.m. on October 4 for a report of an injured five-month-old baby. Responding officers observed Brailynn with signs of trauma to her body.

Brailynn was pronounced dead on October 7. The victim's body was transported to the Medical Examiner's office where the cause of death was ruled a Homicide.

Anthony Ford was taken into custody Thursday morning.

Brailynn is Baltimore’s youngest homicide victim this year.
