Suspect dead after being hit by police car; one wanted after carjacking in Baltimore Co.

Police on the scene of crash in Northwest Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WBFF) Baltimore County Police say that a carjacking suspect was fatally struck by a police car after jumping out of a victim's stolen car in Northwest Baltimore on Sunday afternoon.

According to authorities, just before 4:00 p.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Merle Drive, for a carjacking.

The victim, a pizza delivery driver, told police that three suspects threatened him and stole his car. Afterwards, a county police officer saw the car on Liberty Road at Essex Road.

The officer tried to stop the car, but the suspects fled. Police pursued the suspects and saw the suspects throw a handgun from the car on Liberty Road at Northern Parkway.

Police were able to recover the gun. The three suspects then jumped out of the car on Northern Parkway at Highgate Drive. One suspect was struck in the roadway by one of the pursuing police vehicles. Another suspect was arrested and the third suspect continued to flee.

The third suspect is still sought by police. The suspect struck by the police car was pronounced dead at the scene. Baltimore City Police assisted county officers at the crash scene.

Baltimore Police are leading the crash investigation. None of the involved officers were injured. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
