House explodes, others damaged, in Lochearn

BALTIMORE (WBFF)-- Baltimore County Fire crews were on the scene of a house that exploded in a burst of fire on Remoor Rd near Liberty Road, near I-695, Tuesday afternoon.

The blast was reported around 2:30 p.m. It was the second such incident in Baltimore County in two days.

Witnesses describe hearing a large boom before seeing the fire from a home.

Fire officials say the home where the explosion occurred is destroyed.

One adjacent home is heavily damaged by fire; another structurally damaged by explosion.

Baltimore County Fire crews checking all homes on block for damage, dangerous gases.

Residents are being asked to shelter in place.

Liberty Road is closed at Croydon Road.

The ramp from the IL of I-695 to exit at Liberty Road is also closed.

Inititally, firefighters called for assistance, requesting a second alarm to help extinguish the flames.

Crews were able to get a handle on the fire and perform a search.

No injuries have been reported.

A house in the Lansdowne area was also destroyed in a possible explosion the day before.
