BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Keith Deaven is the founder of "Mediabarn," and he said his small business is being deeply affected by the partial shutdown of the federal government.
“We have a direct contract with the IRS and treasury is deeply impacted by the cuts,” he explained. “However, the folks that process the invoices are not able to pay us, so right now we're floating the costs of a seven-person team.“
On Thursday afternoon, U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen hosted a roundtable discussion in Baltimore with local small businesses and entrepreneurs who have been hurt by the current federal government shutdown.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of Fearless Solutions, a small business that provides software solutions for both the Small Business Administration and local small businesses.
Cardin, who is the ranking member of the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, and Van Hollen, who is a member of the Budget and Appropriations Committees, told business owners they would continue to work daily to end the shutdown.
