BALTIMORE (WBFF) - State Highway Administration says it's made huge strides in reducing the amount of salt used on the roads.
Still, AAA says every year, Americans spend $3 billion to repair rust damage on their vehicles caused by road de-icers.
The SHA says it's worked hard to reduce salt usage, relying more on brine than pure salt.
Brine is just 23 percent salt and 77 percent water.
Salt is still salt, no matter how much or little is used.
That's why proper vehicle care is key.
