BALTIMORE (WBFF) - The massive Hurricane Florence strengthened again to a Category 4 storm with maximum winds of 140 miles per hour, according to new National Weather Service reports at about 5 p.m.
The revised track, however, has the storm taking a little more of a left turn, toward Charlotte.
That means Maryland could avoid the worst of the storm - although it remains too soon to say anything for sure.
"There's a couple of inches we could get out of this, 2 to 4," said meteorologist Vytas Reid.
Although that may not sound like much, Vytas Reid noted that wind gusts could be up to 35 or 45 miles per hour.
With Maryland having already gotten record amounts of rain, the ground is saturated and flooding and other damage remains a threat.
Coastal flooding is also expected with the storm.
